Geotab patch 11.131 changes Street View to a picture-in-picture overlay on the map
Geotab released patch 11.131, updating Street View to open as a floating, draggable picture-in-picture overlay on the map instead of redirecting to Google Maps in a new tab.
Geotab released patch 11.131 on July 27, 2026, according to the MyGeotab & Geotab Drive Release Notes published on support.geotab.com. The release included a change to how Street View behaves within the map interface.
Previously, opening Street View redirected users to Google Maps in a new tab. The release notes state that Street View now opens as a floating, draggable picture-in-picture overlay on the map instead of redirecting to Google Maps in a new tab. The notes describe the purpose of this change as keeping map context while reviewing street-level imagery.
"To keep map context while reviewing street-level imagery, Street View now opens as a floating, draggable picture-in-picture overlay on the map instead of redirecting to Google Maps in a new tab."
