Community Content Policy
Effective date: March 28, 2026 · Policy version: 2026-03-28
1. Purpose
This Community Content Policy governs user-generated content posted to Full Stack HVAC, including contractor reviews, product comments, stack recommendations, and other community contributions. Our goal is to maintain a trustworthy, honest, and useful platform for HVAC professionals and property owners. By posting content, you agree to comply with this policy.
2. Vendor Visibility and Your Review
Important: Your review and display name will be publicly visible to all users, including the contractor you are reviewing. Contractors have access to their own reviews and may choose to respond publicly. If you wish to maintain anonymity, you may create an account using a pseudonym (not your legal name), but you should not expect complete anonymity if you provide identifying information within the review text itself.
3. What You Can Post
Honest Reviews and Experiences
We welcome genuine reviews based on your personal experience with contractors, products, and services. Your review should reflect your honest opinion and include specific details about your experience.
Constructive Comments and Discussion
Community members may post comments asking questions, sharing knowledge, or respectfully discussing contractor qualifications and product merits. Comments should be factual and relevant to the contractor or product being discussed.
Stack Recommendations
You may share component stacks (combinations of complementary HVAC products) based on your professional experience or research. Stack recommendations should include rationale for your choices.
4. Content Standards
Truthfulness and Accuracy
All content you post must be truthful and based on your actual knowledge or experience. You certify that:
- Reviews describe genuine experiences with the contractor or product
- Claims about certifications, licensing, or credentials are factually accurate
- You have not fabricated details or exaggerated your experience
- You will not post multiple reviews of the same contractor under different accounts
- You will not post false or misleading claims about licences, permits, certifications, inspections, code compliance, or approvals issued by provincial or state regulators, utilities, or standards bodies
No Paid or Incentivized Reviews
You may not post reviews in exchange for payment, discounts, free services, or other compensation. If your review is based on work performed at a discounted rate or as part of a promotional arrangement, you must disclose this clearly in your review (e.g., "I received a 20% discount on this service").
No Competitor Sabotage
Do not post false, defamatory, or malicious content intended to harm a contractor's reputation or drive business to competitors. Reviews motivated by business rivalry rather than genuine customer experience may be removed.
No Personal Information of Others
Do not include personal information about others (personal cell numbers, personal email addresses, home addresses, personal social media handles) in your content. You may mention a contractor's publicly listed general business contact information (main office phone, business email, business address) when relevant to your review, but not personal contact details unless clearly and independently made public for business purposes.
Respect for Intellectual Property
Content you post must not infringe copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights. Do not copy contractor website copy, product descriptions, or reviews from other platforms.
5. Review Integrity and Verification
Verification Tiers
Reviews on Full Stack HVAC may carry badges indicating account status and reviewer history:
- Verified Account: Account created with valid email address and passed basic account-creation checks
- Established Contributor: Account age 30+ days, no removal history for policy violations, and has posted multiple constructive comments or reviews on the platform
- Verified Use (when applicable): We have taken steps to confirm (via direct contact, service-record cross-reference, or other method) that the reviewer has actual experience with the reviewed contractor or product
What Verification Does NOT Mean
Verification is strictly limited to the checks described above. Verification badges do NOT:
- Indicate that we endorse the reviewer, the reviewed contractor, or the opinions expressed in the review
- Mean that we have validated factual claims in the review or found them to be true
- Indicate that the reviewer is an expert or has specialized knowledge
- Protect the reviewer from civil or criminal liability for false, defamatory, or unlawful statements
All reviews, regardless of verification status, remain subject to our content moderation standards and applicable laws. A verified reviewer is still bound by this policy and may have content removed for violations.
Review Timing
Reviews should be posted in a reasonable timeframe after your experience (within 12 months is typical). Reviews posted years after service may be less relevant and may be de-emphasized in search rankings.
6. Vendor Response Rights
Vendors May Respond Publicly
Contractors (vendors) have the right to post a public response to reviews of their business. Vendor responses should address specific claims in the review and provide additional context about the service or experience.
Vendors Cannot Demand Review Removal
Vendors may not demand removal of reviews simply because the review is negative or critical. A review will only be removed if it violates our Content Standards (see Section 4), our Prohibited Content rules (see Section 8), or applicable law.
Review Dispute Process
If a vendor disputes a review as factually false or containing defamatory statements, they may contact us with:
- Identification of the exact statements they dispute
- Explanation of why each statement is false or misleading
- Supporting evidence (documents, photos, service records, professional assessments)
We will investigate specific, evidence-supported disputes. Vague, repetitive, or unsupported removal demands may be denied without further correspondence. If we find evidence supporting a disputed claim, we may label the review with correction information, add vendor context, or remove the review if it violates our policy. However, honest negative reviews will not be removed simply to appease vendors, and disagreement with critical opinions is not grounds for removal.
7. Consumer Review Fairness Act Notice
Important disclosure: Nothing in this policy, our terms, or any agreement with us prohibits you from posting lawful reviews or imposes penalties for doing so. We comply with the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA, 15 U.S.C. § 45b) and similar consumer protection laws that protect your right to honest, truthful reviews.
What this means:
- We will not remove truthful negative reviews simply because a contractor disputes them or requests removal
- We will not penalize you for posting honest criticism of a contractor's work or service
- We will not use removal of your review as retaliation or pressure for any other purpose
Important limitation: These consumer protection laws do not require us to host reviews that are factually false and defamatory, infringe intellectual property rights, violate our Prohibited Content rules, or break laws. We may remove content that violates this policy for legitimate legal or policy reasons, separate from whether the review is critical.
If you believe a contractor has attempted to pressure you into removing a review, or if you suspect retaliation for a review you posted, please report this to us at support@fullstackhvac.com.
8. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are not permitted and will be removed:
- Hate speech or harassment: Content targeting individuals or groups based on protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability)
- Personal attacks: Abusive language, threats, or comments attacking individuals rather than their work or business practices
- Spam: Repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional content; advertising unrelated products or services
- Malware or phishing links: Links to malicious websites, counterfeit sites, or phishing attempts
- Illegal activity: Content describing or promoting illegal conduct; copyright infringement; content that violates laws in Nova Scotia, Canada
- False certifications or licenses: Claims that a contractor holds professional licenses, certifications, or credentials they do not actually hold
- Explicit content: Sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, or otherwise obscene material
- Misinformation about products: False technical specifications, safety claims, or health claims about products
- Conflict of interest undisclosed: Reviews posted by contractor employees, competitors, or other parties with financial interest, without clear disclosure
9. Moderation Process
How We Review Content
All content posted to Full Stack HVAC is subject to moderation using a combination of automated systems and human review:
- Automated fraud scoring: AI systems flag content with characteristics of fake reviews (e.g., newly created accounts, suspicious language patterns, rapid posting patterns)
- Pattern analysis: We detect networks of accounts posting coordinated reviews (brigading) or individual accounts posting multiple reviews of the same contractor
- Human review: Content flagged by automation, content reported by community members, and high-impact content are reviewed by our moderation team
- Verification spot-checks: We may reach out to reviewers for additional verification, especially on controversial or high-impact reviews
What Triggers Review
Content is prioritized for human review if it:
- Is reported by a community member as violating this policy
- Contains language or patterns typical of fake reviews
- Makes extraordinary claims that seem inconsistent with the reviewer's history
- Is part of a coordinated pattern of reviews (multiple accounts posting similar reviews of the same contractor within a short timeframe)
- Is disputed by the contractor as factually false, with supporting evidence
- Is the reviewer's first contribution to the platform
Removal Decision
We may remove, flag, or deprioritize content if we determine it violates this policy. When possible, we will provide notice to the reviewer before removal, explaining which policy was violated. In cases of egregious violations or abuse, removal may be immediate without prior notice.
10. Content Reporting
How to Report Problematic Content
If you encounter content that violates this policy, you can report it using either method:
- Report button: Click the "Report" button on the review, comment, or stack to submit a complaint with a reason
- Email: Send a description of the violation to support@fullstackhvac.com with the URL or content ID
What to Include in Your Report
To help us investigate, please include:
- The URL or ID of the content being reported
- Which policy (or policies) you believe the content violates
- Specific details or evidence supporting your claim (e.g., "This contractor's license expired in 2022" or "I found this exact text on another review site")
Investigation Timeline
We aim to review reports within 24 hours during business hours. For complex cases requiring fact-checking or vendor contact, investigation may take 3-5 business days. You will receive an update on the outcome via email if you provided contact information.
11. Content License and Rights
License Grant
By posting content to Full Stack HVAC, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to:
- Display your review, comment, or stack on our website and in search results
- Reproduce and distribute your content within our platform
- Analyze your content using machine learning and AI systems to detect fraud, improve our moderation processes, and identify trends (internal use only)
- Share aggregate statistics or anonymized insights derived from community content (without attributing to you individually or revealing personal data)
Privacy and Data Handling
Your review and its associated metadata (verification status, helpfulness votes, vendor responses) will be visible to the reviewed business and its representatives, as well as to the public. We process review data to detect fraudulent reviews, compute contractor ratings, and improve our platform. Our Privacy Policy governs how we handle the personal data you provide (email, phone, IP address, device information) when you post content.
Your Ownership
You retain all rights to content you post. You may edit or delete your review at any time from your account. Deleted reviews are removed from public view within 24 hours, though they may remain in our systems for moderation and legal compliance purposes.
Content Attribution
Your display name and profile will be publicly associated with your review. If you wish to post anonymously, you may create an account using a pseudonym (not your legal name).
12. Content Removal and Appeals
Removal Reasons
We may remove content for the following reasons:
- Violation of this Content Policy
- Legal requirement (e.g., court order, DMCA takedown)
- User request (if you posted it and wish to delete it)
- Fraud or abuse (fake review detected)
- Defamation (false factual claims that harm a contractor's reputation, substantiated by vendor dispute and our investigation)
Notification of Removal
When we remove content, we will notify you via email (if available) or in-app message, explaining:
- Which content was removed
- The specific policy violation or reason for removal
- Your right to appeal (see below)
Appeal Process
If you believe your content was removed in error, you have 15 days to appeal:
- Click "Appeal" in the removal notification email or in your account dashboard
- Provide additional context or evidence explaining why the content should not have been removed
- Our moderation team will review your appeal within 5 business days
- We will notify you of the outcome and restore your content if we determine it was removed in error
Account Suspension or Termination
Repeated violations of this policy may result in suspension or termination of your account. Serious violations (e.g., coordinated fake reviews, harassment, illegal content) may result in immediate termination without a prior warning. You may appeal account termination within 30 days using the same process as content appeals.
13. Editorial Independence and Non-Adoption of User Content
Product Descriptions and Scores
Full Stack HVAC publishes editorial product descriptions, technical specifications, and composite scores based on aggregated review data and industry research. These descriptions and scores reflect our analysis and professional judgment.
User Reviews Are User Statements
User-posted reviews and comments represent the statements and opinions of their authors only. We do not adopt, endorse, or certify the factual accuracy of individual user reviews merely by displaying them. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, false claims, or defamatory statements made by reviewers. A user's statement appearing on our platform does not mean Full Stack HVAC agrees with it, has verified it, or takes responsibility for its truth.
Notice and Action Process
If a contractor or third party notifies us of a potentially false or defamatory user review, we will:
- Request specific identification of the disputed statements and supporting evidence
- Investigate the dispute with reasonable effort, which may include requesting substantiation from the reviewer
- If we find credible evidence that a statement is false and material, we may append a correction label, deprioritize the review, or remove it
- Continue to protect honest negative reviews from removal based solely on vendor disagreement
Editorial Opinion Protection
Our product descriptions, category placement, and editorial commentary are protected as opinion and fair comment under applicable law. Contractors may not demand changes to editorial content based solely on disagreement with our assessment. Vendors may respond publicly with their own perspective.
Vendor Relations
We maintain editorial independence from vendors. We do not suppress negative reviews, remove product listings, or alter product information in exchange for payment, partnership, or other consideration from contractors or manufacturers. Vendor disagreements with our editorial decisions should not influence our moderation of community content.
14. Automation, Bot Detection, and Account Security
Fraud Detection
To maintain review integrity, we use automated systems to flag reviews that exhibit characteristics typical of fraudulent or bot-generated content, including:
- Newly created accounts posting multiple reviews in rapid succession
- Similar writing patterns, linguistic markers, or network signals across reviews
- Coordinated timing or voting patterns (e.g., multiple low-credibility accounts voting on the same review simultaneously)
- Submission from suspicious IP addresses, VPNs used for abuse, or device fingerprints associated with prior violations
Flagged content is reviewed by humans before removal. Automated flagging alone does not result in content deletion without human review.
Transparency
We disclose that we use automated fraud detection; we do not disclose specific algorithm details, thresholds, or complete lists of signals to prevent circumvention by bad-faith actors.
15. Geographic Scope and Jurisdiction
This Community Content Policy is administered from the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. Full Stack HVAC's primary audience is Canadian users and contractors, with secondary service areas in the United States. This policy applies to all users regardless of location.
For Canadian users, this policy is subject to interpretation under Nova Scotia law, including the Defamation Act (RSNS 1989, c 122) and Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). For U.S. users, the Consumer Review Fairness Act (15 U.S.C. § 45b) and state consumer protection laws apply to review-removal restrictions.
16. Reviewer-vs-Reviewer Disputes
Impersonation and Conflict of Interest
Do not post reviews or comments:
- Impersonating another user, reviewer, contractor, or professional
- On behalf of a competing contractor without clear disclosure of that conflict of interest
- If you are a contractor's employee, family member, or receive compensation from the reviewed contractor (direct or indirect)
If you have a financial or personal relationship to a reviewed contractor, disclose it clearly in your review (e.g., "I work for this company" or "My spouse owns this business").
Dispute Resolution Between Reviewers
Reviews and counter-reviews may both appear on the platform if they both comply with this policy. We do not arbitrate factual disputes between reviewers. If you disagree with another reviewer's facts, you may post a respectful counter-review citing evidence or your own experience. Personal attacks on other reviewers will be removed.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Community Content Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to active users and posted on this page. Continued posting after changes constitute acceptance of the updated policy.
18. Contact and Questions
If you have questions about this policy, wish to report a violation, or need to appeal a moderation decision, please contact us at support@fullstackhvac.com.
For legal concerns or formal disputes, you may also write to us at the address on file with your account.
